Brighton’s biggest International
Women’s Day Celebration!

Brighton Women’s Centre presented the city’s largest International Women’s Day Celebration. The free event was a day of uplifting and inclusive discussions, workshops, talks, arts and crafts, music, dance, causes and campaigns with aims to celebrate and inspire women as well as raise awareness of BWC’s work.

Key Features:

  • 4,000+ attendees at Brighton Dome & Brighton Museum

  • Named one of Elle Magazine’s Top 10 IWD Events in the UK

  • 25+ workshops, talks, and performances featuring leading voices in activism, advocacy, business, sports, music, literature and more

  • 30+ exhibitors showcasing local projects

  • Highlights included Justice for Women (Caroline Lucas, Lady Unchained, Meena Patel), PROUD (Juno Dawson, Tanya Byrne), A Level Playing Field (Lewes Women’s FC) and Design for Disability (Jessica Ryan Ndegwa).

  • Interactive experiences included choir singing, period poverty awareness, placard making, circus skills, yoga, creative journaling, and more.

  • Community-driven impact included a pay-as-you-feel meal from Real Junk Food Project, pop-ups from the Feminist Bookshop and local artists, live performances and flash mobs, children’s area, dance parties, film screenings and more.

→ Designed and implemented a diverse lineup of 25+ workshops, talks, and performances, featuring people in activism, advocacy, business, sports, music literature

→ Managed all logistical components including venue and supplier coordination, scheduling and on-the-day event management.

→ Led the print, email and online marketing of the event to ensure higher attendance and engagement numbers than ever before

✨ Exhibitor Coordination

→ Organised over 30 exhibition stalls, providing a platform for local organisations to engage with the community

🤝 Volunteer & Stakeholder

→ Supervised the recruitment, training, and coordination of 50+ volunteers for smooth-running on the live event

🎉 Sponsorship Acquisition

→ Secured corporate sponsorships to fund the event, enabling free public access and broader community participation

Impact:

This festival was the biggest IWD event in Brighton and achieved the highest attendance this annual event had ever seen. It was a powerful celebration of women in all their diversity, all while highlighting and raising awareness of the important work of Brighton Women’s Centre in the community.
