Beat The Heat.

In 2022, The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, launched the first ever Heat Action Day with a coordinated 24 hours of flash mobs and activations worldwide to #BeatTheHeat.

Key Features:

  • Global Participation: Flash mobs and awareness events in over 50 cities worldwide, engaging diverse communities in heat risk education.

  • Multilingual Outreach: Development of informative resources and social media content in 14 languages, ensuring accessibility and widespread dissemination of heat safety information.

  • Collaborative Effort: Partnered with C40 Cities to mobilise officials, planners, and residents, emphasising the importance of preparedness against increasing heatwaves.

  • Life-Saving Education: Promoted simple, actionable measures - such as staying hydrated, seeking shade, and checking on vulnerable individuals - to prevent heat-related illnesses and fatalities.

  • Artistic Engagement: Utilised creative mediums, including flash mobs and public art installations, to raise awareness and foster community involvement in addressing the often overlooked dangers of extreme heat.
